AVAX +4% to $7.92: OI $257M, Funding Maxed Across Venues

AVAX outruns a mostly flat tape
AVAX is trading around $7.92, up about 4% in the last 24 hours, and it is doing so while BTC barely moves at $80,112, +0.35%. The move is consistent across the two biggest spot books: Binance shows $7.922 with a 24h range of $7.96 to $7.527, OKX shows $7.925 with the same $7.96 high and a low of $7.516. That narrow spread between venues means the rally is real order flow, not a thin book print.
Open interest climbs to $257M, Binance leads
Total open interest across AVAX perps has risen to roughly $257M, up 7.7% over 24 hours. Binance holds the largest single position at $73.9M, about 28.8% of the market, and added 7.1% in a day. Bybit follows with $60.5M, MEXC with $25.1M and KuCoin with $15.9M. The interesting wrinkle is MEXC: it grew its AVAX book 23% over 24 hours but has given back 6.4% in the last four, while Binance, OKX, KuCoin and Hyperliquid all kept adding in the same window. Leverage is rotating rather than uniformly piling in.
Funding pinned at the cap
The funding rate is the loudest signal here. Binance, OKX, Bybit, Gate, Bitget, MEXC, KuCoin and HTX all quote 0.01% on their 8-hour cycles, the ceiling for most of these venues. Hyperliquid runs a 1-hour cycle at 0.00125%, which annualizes to roughly the same level. In plain terms, every AVAX long is paying the maximum possible carry right now, yet price is only 5.3% above the $7.52 low. A full-cap funding print usually means the perp crowd is crowded and any stall in price starts squeezing the most expensive longs out first.
What to watch near $8
The 24h high sits at $7.96, so the round $8 level is the obvious battleground. A clean break above it with open interest still climbing would likely force short covering on top of the existing long flow. But if price stalls under $8 and the four-hour MEXC outflow spreads to Binance and Bybit, a pullback toward the $7.52-7.60 zone becomes the more probable path. The setup rewards waiting for either the breakout or the flush rather than chasing at full funding.
