Bitcoin Tops 24-Hour Liquidations at $74.2M as Altcoins Surge

Liquidations are concentrating in the majors while speculative futures tokens produce the sharpest price moves. Bitcoin topped the 24-hour liquidation ranking at $74.2M, including $69.5M in short liquidations, while Ethereum followed with $35.4M, of which $33.1M came from shorts. Across the market, total liquidations reached $169.4M, with short liquidations at $139.2M versus $30.2M for longs.

Liquidation ranking: majors absorb the squeeze

Bitcoin is the clear market leader in forced positioning: its $74.2M total was more than double Ethereum's $35.4M. The imbalance toward shorts suggests the recent upside move punished bearish positioning rather than triggering a broad long wipeout.

Ethereum's liquidation total was supported by several large short closures, including a Binance ETHUSDT event worth $5.7M at $2,719.13. That makes ETH the key secondary squeeze asset, but its seven-day ETF flow backdrop was mixed: the latest daily flow was negative $37.4M even though the seven-day sum remained positive at $14.9M.

SOL ranked next at $6.8M, with shorts contributing $4.2M. Its $4.4B 90-day sample volume and 49.7% 90-day change show that the move has meaningful market participation rather than being limited to a thin contract.

ZEC recorded $4.7M in liquidations, including $3.5M in shorts. Its 90-day change was 175.3%, the strongest major-altcoin performance in the supplied sample, so the liquidation figure reflects both strong momentum and crowded positioning.

PUMP completed the leading liquidation group at $4.3M, with $3.4M in short liquidations. Its 90-day change reached 307.1%, while its 24-hour futures volume was $46.1M, making it one of the more aggressive momentum names on the board.

Futures gainers: momentum is highly selective

BATON was the strongest 24-hour futures gainer at 154.0%, trading at $0.011888 with $12.6M in volume. The unusually large percentage move is paired with enough turnover to matter, but its ranking also signals elevated reversal risk after a vertical repricing.

BIKETYSON gained 106.0% to $0.001673 on $999.3K in volume. The move was dramatic, but its lower turnover than BATON means price discovery may be more fragile.

KNOTS advanced 67.4% to $0.00369 with $1.0M in volume. GTC delivered a more liquid momentum signal, rising 64.2% to $0.18732 on $338.5M in volume; it also appeared in the altcoin sample with a 162.5% 90-day gain.

PUMPBTC rose 57.6% to $0.01341 on $46.1M in volume, giving the gainers list a meaningful overlap with the liquidation story. CETS added 47.1% to $0.00799 on $1.3M, a strong move but with a much smaller volume base than GTC.

Futures losers: sharp downside and crowded exits

JINQIAN was the session's deepest loser, falling 73.6% to $0.00087 on $1.8M in volume. APH dropped 47.6% to $82.82 on $1.0M, while BLAST lost 41.5% to $0.0001291 with $3.7M traded; these declines show that downside stress is concentrated in individual contracts rather than evenly spread across the entire market.

AGENCY fell 35.9% to $0.01433 on $1.4M, and EACC declined 35.1% to $0.00996 on $1.6M. Among larger-volume losers, US dropped 32.7% to $0.013337 while trading $155.4M, making it the clearest high-turnover downside signal in the losing group.

The broader backdrop remains constructive but crowded: the altseason index reached 76, the fear-and-greed reading was 70, and total derivatives open interest stood at $131.1B. Bitcoin's options market showed $30.6B in open interest, a 0.5602 put-to-call open-interest ratio, and a $84,000 max-pain level for the Oct 9 expiry.

Verdict: The ranking favors a squeeze-led bullish bias while Bitcoin holds above the $84,000 options max-pain level and its $86,051.73 index price, with $30.6B of options open interest keeping that zone relevant. The view is invalidated if Bitcoin loses $84,000 while open interest expands rather than clears, or if the current $74.2M BTC liquidation lead is followed by a fresh wave of long liquidations that pushes total long liquidations materially above the current $30.2M.
