Celestia OI Climbs 12.3% as $118.9M Positions Meet Mixed Flows

Celestia futures open interest has expanded 12.3% in the latest 24-hour window to $118.9M, while TIA trades at $0.5853 after a 2.5% rise. That combination looks constructive at first glance, but the positioning is becoming more fragile: total trading volume jumped 226.3%, four-hour OI is falling across the largest venues, and liquidation pressure is no longer one-sided.
The broader market backdrop is being shaped by an uneven altcoin rally rather than a uniform risk-on move.
OI growth is concentrated, then cooling
Binance holds the largest disclosed share at 21.4%, equal to $25.4M, with OI up 11.7% over 24 hours. Bybit is close behind at 19.1% and $22.7M, but its growth is more aggressive: OI increased 22.5%. Gate contributes another 12.1%, or $14.4M, after a 16.7% daily expansion. OKX is smaller at 4.1% and $4.9M, and is the only major venue in this group with a daily contraction, down 4.4%.
The shorter window changes the interpretation. Binance OI is down 1.3% over four hours, Bybit is down 3.1%, and OKX is down 9.3%, while Gate alone is up 1.2%. In other words, the daily surge appears to have attracted leverage, but the largest pools are now trimming exposure. This is an OI-surge setup with a cooling impulse, not a clean acceleration.
Funding rates show a split market
The current funding rate picture is uneven across venues. Binance and Bybit both show 0.0% when rounded to one decimal place, while Gate is also 0.0%. Bitget is slightly negative at -0.0%, and OKX is more clearly negative at -0.0%. At the other end, Coinbase reaches 0.1% and CoinEx 0.5%, with the latter standing out as the most expensive positive reading in the available set.
That dispersion matters because aggregate leverage is not being priced consistently. Traders paying positive funding on some venues are leaning long, while negative readings on OKX and Bitget indicate short-side demand or long-position unwinding there. The result is a market where headline OI growth can coexist with opposing carry signals, increasing the chance of venue-specific squeezes rather than a synchronized trend.
Liquidations and positioning disagree
Liquidations remain substantial at $2.9M over 24 hours, with shorts accounting for $1.5M and longs $1.3M. The four-hour window is more balanced but slightly long-heavy: $33.1K in longs versus $24.0K in shorts. Over one hour, however, short liquidations lead at $2.2K against $0.8K for longs. The largest recorded event was a $339.4K Binance long liquidation at $0.6009, followed by a $105.8K Bybit short liquidation at $0.6025.
Account positioning is decisively long. Binance accounts are 65.0% long, Bybit 62.9%, Bitget 65.5%, and OKX 73.5%; Gate is the least stretched at 56.1%. Yet active flow is less confident: Binance takers are 72.4% long, while OKX takers are 44.8% long and Gate takers only 36.1% long. The long/short ratio therefore shows a key divergence: many accounts remain long, but aggressive traders on Gate and OKX are selling into the move.
Verdict: The exclusive read is cautiously bullish only while TIA holds above $0.5683 and total OI remains near or above $118.9M; a move through $0.6009 with renewed OI expansion would confirm that the surge is attracting durable demand. The view is invalidated if price breaks below $0.5683 while OI contracts materially from $118.9M, signaling leverage liquidation rather than healthy continuation.
