Crypto Liquidations Today: $673M in 24h as Longs Absorb 84% of the Damage

Leveraged traders lost $673 million in the past 24 hours across major derivatives venues, and the split tells the story of the session: $566 million came from long positions, or 84% of the total, against just $108 million from shorts. Roughly 107,933 individual positions were force-closed.

Liquidation pressure eased sharply into the afternoon

The damage was front-loaded. Over the past four hours liquidations have slowed to $20.0 million, and the past hour saw just $2.60 million — of which $2.20 million were shorts, meaning the most recent squeeze ran against bearish positioning. The 12-hour total sits at $71 million, so more than 90% of the day's liquidations occurred in the first half of the window.

Where the 24-hour losses landed

Coin24H LiquidatedLongsShorts
ETH$245.3M$212.8M$32.4M
BTC$227.2M$188.6M$38.5M
XRP$36.3M$31.4M$4.9M
SOL$26.2M$24.5M$1.6M
ZEC$16.9M$7.3M$9.6M
DOGE$11.4M$11.2M$0.3M
LSK$5.8M$2.6M$3.2M
HYPE$4.7M$4.5M$0.2M

The concentration is familiar: a handful of large-cap perp markets absorb the majority of forced flows, with BTC and ETH together accounting for the bulk of the day's total. Altcoin books show smaller absolute numbers but far sharper moves in percentage terms.

What to watch

When long liquidations dominate by a four-to-one margin while price falls only modestly, the market was leaning long into a failed move. The constructive read is that excess leverage is being removed rather than a larger short base building. The risk is that if price revisits the session low without funding resetting, another cascade is possible. Data refreshes every 30 seconds on this page.
