DOT -4.7% While BTC Sits Flat

Polkadot's DOT traded at $0.874 around 00:20 Beijing time on August 26, down 4.7% over 24 hours. Bitcoin moved only 0.2% in the same window, so the drop was specific to DOT rather than a market-wide selloff. The 24-hour range on Binance ran from $0.9242 down to $0.8639, and OKX showed almost the same band at $0.9238 to $0.8634. Spot volume reached roughly $126 million over the day, which is normal for DOT and does not point to a panic exit.

Open Interest Barely Moved, But It Rotated Venues

The more interesting part is where the leverage went. Total DOT open interest sat at $113.6 million, down just 0.45% in 24 hours. That flat headline hides a clear rotation: Hyperliquid added 31% of its OI in a day to reach $5.5 million, while Binance trimmed 1.6% to $28.3 million, Bybit cut 5.1% to $16.5 million, Bitget shed 3.1% to $15.8 million, and Gate dropped 4.3%. OKX eased 1.1%. Traders did not abandon DOT; they moved positions toward Hyperliquid and away from the bigger CEX books.

Funding Still Positive: No Capitulation Signal

Funding rates on Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget all sat at 0.01% per 8 hours, unchanged in direction. Hyperliquid ran slightly negative at -0.0046%. Positive funding with a falling price means longs are still paying to hold, and there is no sign of a crowded short building underneath. Liquidation data shows no DOT cluster in the top ranks, consistent with an orderly pullback rather than a levered flush.

What to Watch Next

Two levels matter. The Binance and OKX 24-hour lows around $0.864 form the first support; a break below that opens the $0.85 zone. On the upside, $0.924 is the recent high to reclaim. The venue rotation is the signal to follow: if Hyperliquid OI keeps climbing while majors keep trimming, fresh leveraged demand is forming off-exchange. If that OI starts dropping too, the pullback has further to run. Either way, at $113.6 million of total OI, DOT is nowhere near an overheated position book.
