FARTCOIN -7% to $0.1616: Binance, OKX Add OI, MEXC Cuts 27%

FARTCOIN slid to $0.1616 on Binance and OKX on Wednesday evening Beijing time, down 7% over 24 hours and trading less than 1% above its session low of $0.1603. The derivatives picture behind the move is more mixed than the red candle suggests, with open interest shrinking at the aggregate level while two major venues quietly added exposure.

FARTCOIN presses toward fresh lows while OI bleeds

Total open interest across perpetual venues sits at $125.8M, down 6.7% in 24 hours. That extends the deleveraging that has followed the token's slide from higher prints earlier in the week. Hyperliquid remains the largest single book at $30.7M, a 24.4% share, but it shrank 8.5% over the day. Bybit holds $25.5M, about 20.3% of the market, down 2.5%. The retreat in the biggest venues says most of today's selling is position exit rather than fresh bearish conviction piling in.

Binance and OKX add while MEXC exits

The venue split is where the picture gets interesting. Binance open interest rose 2.2% to $16.9M during the drop, and OKX added 3.8%, though OKX's $3.7M book is small relative to the total. KuCoin edged up 0.3% as well. In the opposite corner, MEXC cut a hefty 27% of its open interest down to $12.8M, and Bitget trimmed 6.3%. MEXC has been the most reactive book on this coin in past swings, so its exit while Binance and OKX build reads as a rotation: aggressive retail leverage leaving, more measured liquidity arriving.

Funding stays flat through the slide

Funding has not turned negative despite the drop. Binance charges 0.005% per period and Hyperliquid sits at 0.00125%, both near the neutral floor. When a coin falls this far and funding still stays positive, shorts are not crowding in to collect on the move. That cuts both ways: there is no short-squeeze building, but there is also no panic in either direction, which often leads to a low-volatility drift until one side commits.

What to watch next

The key tension is the open interest build at Binance and OKX against a price sitting near the $0.1603 low. If those adds are fresh shorts, a break below that level would extend the slide with new fuel. If they are longs catching the dip, reclaiming the $0.1794 high from earlier in the session would confirm buying interest. With funding flat, positions can be held cheaply, so the next move is more likely to come on volume than on funding pressure. Until the high is reclaimed or funding flips negative, bounces are likely to stay shallow and the path of least resistance remains down.
