HEMI +42.6% to $0.0219: OI Jumps 31%, Binance Holds 66%

HEMI leads the tape with a 42.6% surge
HEMI is the strongest mover among mid-cap perps right now. Binance spot quotes $0.0219, up 42.6% over 24 hours, with the daily range spanning $0.0138 to $0.0224. The token sits about 2% below its session high after a fast climb that started from the low-$0.014 area. Spot volume reached $106.3 million on Binance alone over the same window, which is heavy for a coin at this price level.
The move is not a flash spike. HEMI has been building higher since late August, and today's push extends that trend with volume backing each leg. The 24-hour low of $0.0138 shows how far the asset has traveled in a single day, and the closing action near the highs suggests buyers stayed in control into the Asian session.
Open interest adds 31% as fresh longs pile in
Derivatives are confirming the spot move. Total open interest across venues rose to $47.4 million, up 30.9% in 24 hours. Binance is the dominant venue with $31.2 million, or 65.9% of all positions, and its OI expanded 28.1% on the day. Bybit added 34.1% to reach $7.4 million, while Hyperliquid and KuCoin each hold around $2.4 million and grew 38.7% and 28.7% respectively.
HEMI's OI build is broad rather than concentrated in one exchange. MEXC grew the fastest at 62.2%, though from a smaller base of $1.7 million. The 4-hour changes are also positive across Binance, Bybit, Gate and Hyperliquid, which points to new entries during the latest push rather than rollover of old positions.
Funding stays near zero while price runs
Funding rates have not caught up with the rally. The volume-weighted rate sits around 0.0077% per interval, essentially flat, with Binance at 0.0084% and Hyperliquid at 0.0053%. Compare that with typical squeeze setups where funding flips to 0.1% or higher as longs crowd in. Here, leverage demand is rising but the cost of holding a long is still cheap.
That divergence is worth reading carefully. OI up 31% with funding near zero means fresh longs are not yet paying a premium, which leaves room for the move to extend. It also means a sudden unwind would hit positions that were opened at a low carry cost, so the setup is not as fragile as a crowded funding squeeze.
What this means for traders
For anyone watching HEMI, the key tension is between momentum and leverage. The price action is strong and volume supports it, but the 42.6% daily gain means mean-reversion risk is real if spot volume fades. The OI breakdown gives a concrete signal to monitor: Binance holds two-thirds of positions, so its OI trend is the cleanest gauge of whether the rally is being financed or unwound.
Funding is the second gauge. If rates push above 0.05% per interval while price stalls near the $0.022 high, longs are paying up for exposure and the squeeze is maturing. Until that happens, the data says the rally is still being built, not crowded.
