Injective INJ: $147.6M OI Tests a 9.0% Rally's Positioning

Injective is showing a sharp positioning split after a 9.0% advance to $7.67. Total open interest stands at $147.6M, up 20.6% over 24 hours, while volume expanded 89.9% to $267.9M. That combination says the move is being actively traded and leveraged, but the distribution of risk matters more than the headline rally.

A recent market note says a neckline failure has temporarily weakened the bullish case around INJ.

Open interest is rising, but not uniformly

Binance holds the largest reported share at 18.5%, with $27.2M of INJ OI after an 11.2% 24-hour increase. Gate follows with 15.2% and $22.3M, up 24.4%, while Bybit accounts for 13.1% and $19.3M after an 18.8% rise. Bitget contributes 9.6%, or $14.1M, with a 9.4% increase. The concentration is therefore broad rather than dependent on one venue.

The shorter window is less synchronized. Binance OI fell 1.3% over four hours and OKX dropped 2.8%, while Bybit rose 2.0% and Gate added 2.4%. This is the core divergence: aggregate leverage has expanded, but the largest venues are not all adding exposure at the same time. A rally supported by fresh OI needs follow-through across both the declining and advancing venue groups; otherwise, the increase can reflect rotation or late chasing rather than a unified directional bet.

Funding is positive, with one clear outlier

The current funding rate structure is mostly mildly positive. Binance, Bybit, Gate, OKX, Bitget and several other venues are at 0.0% when rounded to one decimal place, while Coinbase is the standout at 0.1%. MEXC is also above the broad cluster at 0.0% on the same display basis, whereas Paradex is negative at -0.0%.

That spread is more informative than the rounded headline values. The market is paying longs on most major venues, but the premium is not broad enough to confirm an overcrowded long trade. Coinbase's higher positive reading suggests localized demand for long exposure, while the negative Paradex rate shows that positioning is not synchronized across the market. Funding therefore supports a bullish tilt, but not a clean consensus.

Accounts lean long, active flow leans less aggressively

Aggregate account positioning is 58.0% long, versus 52.9% on the taker measure. The gap points to a classic positioning divergence: more accounts are holding long exposure, but recent aggressive execution is closer to balanced. Venue-level account data reinforces that interpretation. Bybit is the most long-heavy at 62.6%, OKX is 56.0%, Gate is 56.0%, and Binance is nearly even at 50.4% long.

Liquidations add another layer. The 24-hour total reached $516,222.37, with $433,269.88 from shorts against $82,952.49 from longs, showing that the rally forced a substantial short unwind. However, the four-hour window reversed toward long stress: $37,528.27 of longs were liquidated versus $16,083.44 of shorts. The 12-hour window was nearly balanced but still slightly short-heavy, at $84,477.57 versus $70,811.86. A major Bybit short liquidation at $7.70 was worth $233,956.03, making that price an important recent stress marker.

Verdict: INJ's bias remains cautiously constructive while price holds above $7.42 and OI remains near or above $147.6M, with $7.70 acting as the immediate positioning test. A sustained break above $7.70 alongside expanding OI would favor continuation; a loss of $7.42 combined with OI contraction would invalidate that view and signal that the long-account bias is unwinding.
