JTO -13.5% to $0.52: OI Holds $35M as Hyperliquid Adds

JTO's 13.5% Slide Leaves OI Nearly Untouched

JTO dropped 13.5% over the past 24 hours to around $0.52, after printing a high near $0.60 early Tuesday and then rolling over. What stands out is not the drop itself but what happened to leverage underneath: total open interest across major venues sits at roughly $35.2 million, down only 1.7% on the day. In a typical flush, a double-digit price move brings a double-digit OI cut. This one did not.

Hyperliquid Adds While Binance Trims

The picture inside the OI numbers is split. Hyperliquid, the venue that often leads short-term positioning, grew its JTO book by 5.7% to about $8.7 million. Binance, the largest single venue at $10 million, trimmed 3.4%. Bybit added 0.8% and OKX cut 2.6%. Net result: leverage rotated rather than exited. Someone used the dip to open new positions, mostly on Hyperliquid, while Binance traders lightened up.

Funding Near Zero: No Panic, No Greed

Funding rates tell a similar story. Binance funding sits slightly negative at -0.00058%, Hyperliquid is marginally positive at 0.00125%, and most other venues hover near zero. Negative funding after a 13% slide is normal, but the scale here is tiny. It means the drop did not trigger a wave of leveraged longs piling in against the trend, nor a stampede of shorts. The market is waiting rather than fighting.

What the Flat OI Actually Means

For traders, a price drop with stable OI has two readings. The bearish one: longs are holding underwater and will be forced to liquidate if price breaks the 24-hour low near $0.514, which would accelerate the slide. The bullish one: sellers did most of their damage on spot, leveraged positioning stayed intact, and a reclaim of $0.55 would put those stubborn longs back in profit and invite fresh entries. The level to watch is $0.51. Above it, the flat book supports a bounce; below it, the same book becomes fuel for the next leg down.
