LIT OI Tops $500M at $4.72: Hyperliquid Holds 40% Share

LIT open interest has crossed the half-billion mark. The token trades at $4.72, up 8.6% in the past 24 hours on Binance, and its derivatives book now holds $509.8 million in open positions, about 6.4% higher than a day ago. What makes the move stand out is that funding costs are still close to zero.

LIT OI structure: one venue carries 40% of the book

Hyperliquid is the biggest single home for the token's perpetuals at $202.9 million, a 39.8% share of total OI and up 11.9% over 24 hours. Binance follows with $83.8 million, around 16.4% of the market. Lighter holds $68.3 million and Bybit $54.2 million. OKX sits at $30.9 million and actually trimmed 1.5% during the rally, which suggests the newest money is not coming from the largest retail venues.

MEXC tells a different story. Its book jumped 119.5% in one day to $13.9 million. The base is small, so the percentage reads louder than the dollar figure, but it still points to speculative flow arriving at the edges of the market while the core exchanges hold steady.

Price moved 8.6%, funding barely woke up

Perpetual funding across venues averages about 0.0039% on an OI-weighted basis, and Binance charges 0.005% per settlement window. LIT reached $4.92 on Binance earlier in the session before easing back to $4.72, with the 24-hour low near $4.23. A rally of this size usually starts paying longs through funding. It has not, which means this push is being carried by cash buyers and spot demand rather than by leveraged chasers.

That is the healthy reading of this chart. The uncomfortable version appears when funding turns clearly positive while OI keeps climbing, because that is the setup where leverage piles in late and any pullback triggers a faster unwind.

Shorts took the loss so far

Liquidation data shows $1.64 million in short positions wiped out over 24 hours versus $590,000 in longs, a ratio of roughly 3.7 to 1 against bears. Price moved up into the squeeze instead of away from it, and the shorts that added near the $4.30 zone during the earlier dip are the ones bleeding now.

What to watch next

The tell to watch is funding direction. If LIT OI holds above $500 million while funding turns strongly positive, late longs are entering and the risk-reward flips. If funding stays flat and OI grinds higher with price, the move still has room. Either way, the $4.90 area from this session is the immediate ceiling, and the $4.23 low is the level that matters for anyone holding positions.
