Monero OI Holds at $216.8M as Exchange Signals Split Widely

Monero is holding at $530.3 while total open interest sits at $216.8M, down 0.6% over 24 hours. That combination suggests a market absorbing leverage rather than aggressively building it: price is up 1.3%, but derivatives exposure is edging lower and trading volume is down 42.5% over the same period. Broader market coverage describes a volatile backdrop in which Bitcoin weakened while Monero showed relative resilience.
Binance and Bybit anchor the OI map
Exchange concentration is meaningful but not overwhelming. Binance carries $43.6M of XMR open interest, equal to 20.1% of the tracked total, and its position grew 0.1% over 24 hours. Bybit follows with $31.3M, or 14.4%, while its OI increased 0.3%. Together, those venues represent the clearest core of the market, yet neither is showing a sharp expansion in leverage.
The more unusual move is at Gate. Its $8.3M position accounts for 3.8% of tracked OI, but it rose 13.7% over 24 hours even as its shorter-term change fell 4.7% over 4 hours. Bitget, with $6.5M and a 3.0% share, added 0.3% during the day. This split between a steady large-venue base and a fast-moving smaller venue makes the aggregate decline look less like a uniform risk reduction and more like leverage rotating across exchanges.
Funding shows no unified directional crowd
The funding rate picture reinforces that fragmentation. Binance, Bitget and several other venues are at 0.0% when displayed to one decimal place, while Bybit is marginally negative at -0.0% and Gate is also -0.0%. CoinEx is the outlier at 0.3%, despite carrying only $28.9K of OI in the exchange snapshot. The ticker's average funding is positive but rounds to 0.0% at one decimal place.
That distribution matters for price structure. There is no broad, expensive long bias across the major OI pools, and the highest visible funding sits on a venue with a very small share. The result is a relatively clean carry backdrop for the main contracts, but also a warning that isolated venue pressure can move faster than the consolidated figure.
Accounts lean long, while liquidations stay contained
The available long/short ratio data shows 56.4% of Binance accounts long and 43.7% short, with a ratio of 0.63. However, no taker split is available, so the account bias cannot be confirmed as an active-aggressor bias. That distinction is important: more accounts may be long without buyers actually controlling the latest executions.
Liquidation activity is modest at $27.8K over 24 hours, with $15.6K in long liquidations versus $12.2K in shorts. The 12-hour window tilts more clearly toward longs, at $11.2K against $5.4K for shorts, while the 4-hour window records only $5.3K of short liquidations. There were no liquidations in the 1-hour window. This is not a forced-unwind event; it is a market with limited stress and a small recent shakeout of both sides.
Verdict: The structure is cautiously constructive but not breakout-confirmed: $530.3 is the key price reference, while $216.8M is the key OI reference. Holding above $530.3 while OI remains near or below $216.8M would favor orderly resilience and limited leverage buildup. The view is invalidated if price moves below $530.3 while OI reverses higher from $216.8M, signaling that fresh exposure is entering against weakening price.
