ONDO OI Hits $201.7M, +8.1%: Funding Stays Flat at 0.005%

ONDO Grinds Higher While BTC Goes Sideways

ONDO is trading near $0.3516 on Binance and OKX, up about 3.3% over the last 24 hours. The move is modest, but it stands out because most of the large caps are flat or slightly red in the same window. Bitcoin is hovering around $77,500 with a 0.4% gain, ETH is off roughly 0.6%, and ONDO is quietly putting together its second positive session. The 24-hour range is tight, from a low near $0.3355 to a high of $0.3521, which suggests buyers are defending the level rather than chasing a headline.

What makes the price action worth attention is what sits underneath it. Perpetual open interest for the asset rose 8.1% in 24 hours to $201.7 million, a level it has not seen in recent weeks. When price climbs at the same time open interest expands, it usually points to new money entering positions, not just shorts covering. The funding rate tells the rest of the story.

OI Structure: MEXC Adds Fastest, Binance Still Leads

The OI build is not evenly spread. MEXC grew its book by 23% over 24 hours and now holds 16.75% of the total, the biggest percentage gain among major venues. Binance added 5.25% and keeps the largest single share at 21.7%. Bybit is up 7.29% with a 17.36% share, and Bitget rose 8.79% to 9.44% of the market. Hyperliquid, which has become a default home for new perp listings, added a quieter 3.46% and holds 11.81%.

The venue split matters for one reason. In the past, sharp rallies on this token were often driven by a single exchange and faded quickly when that book unwound. This time the increase is broad, with nine of the top venues adding positions in the same direction. Concentration is lower, which tends to make the move harder to reverse in one flush.

Funding Holds Near Zero: No Crowding Yet

The average funding rate across exchanges is about 0.005% per eight hours, with Binance and OKX both sitting at that level. Weighted by open interest, the rate is roughly 0.0046%. That is effectively flat. Longs are not paying a premium to stay in the trade, and there is no sign of the crowded positioning that usually precedes a squeeze or a washout.

This is the key read. The token is adding leveraged exposure without the market getting expensive for directional traders. Funding has stayed below 0.01% even as price rose, which means the OI build looks more like positioning ahead of a move than a reflexive chase. When funding eventually picks up, that will be the signal that leverage is getting one-sided.

What to Watch Next

The setup is not without risk. The token traded as high as $0.3521 in the window and has not yet cleared it convincingly, so the immediate level to watch is the $0.35 area on sustained volume. A break above the recent high with OI still climbing would confirm the trend; a rejection that sends OI lower would mark this as another failed build.

For anyone holding or watching this market, the cheap funding is the main variable to track. Positions built at zero funding can be flipped quickly if the rate turns sharply positive, and a spike above 0.02% on the eight-hour schedule usually means longs have crowded in. Until that happens, the structure reads as neutral-to-constructive: price holding, OI growing, and leverage still cheap.
