Ondo ONDO: $454M OI, 78.9% Long Accounts and Funding Crowding

At $0.4926, Ondo is showing a crowded but weakening derivatives setup: total open interest stands at $453.8M, down 4.4% over the past day, while 78.9% of accounts are long. The imbalance is not being confirmed by aggressive buyers, with taker positioning close to balanced at 51.6% long.

News context: Ondo has expanded its tokenized private-market offering toward around-the-clock access to pre-IPO artificial-intelligence exposure for eligible investors.

Positioning is concentrated at the top venues

The open interest map shows meaningful concentration in a few venues. Bybit carries $85.8M, or 18.9% of the total, after a 3.0% daily decline. Gate holds $73.9M, or 16.3%, but its open interest has dropped 10.5%, the sharpest contraction among the largest reported venues. Binance contributes $71.1M, or 15.7%, with a smaller 2.3% decline, while Bitget holds $33.8M, or 7.5%, after falling 2.6%.

This combination matters for a crowded-funding thesis. The biggest share is not expanding into the move; it is being reduced. Gate's sharper contraction may indicate that leveraged positions are already being cleared or voluntarily closed, while the broader 24-hour OI decline suggests the market is losing exposure rather than building a fresh bullish base.

Funding stays positive, but dispersion is a warning

The funding rate is positive on most of the major venues, including 0.005% on Binance, Bybit, Bitget and several other exchanges. OKX is lower at 0.0036%, while Gate is at 0.0049%. The outliers are more revealing: Coinbase is at 0.075%, CoinEx at 0.6%, and Paradex at 0.0100% after rounding to four decimal places. Kraken is negative at -0.0%, while Crypto.com is also negative at -0.0%.

That spread says the long premium is not uniform. Standardized major-venue funding remains modest, but isolated venues are charging materially more for long exposure. With the ticker's average funding reading equivalent to roughly 0.0% when rounded to one decimal place, the pressure is better described as localized crowding than a market-wide funding blowout.

Liquidations and flow disagree with account ratios

The liquidation structure favors a downside interpretation. Over the past day, long liquidations reached $361.7K versus $134.4K for shorts. In the latest four-hour window, longs accounted for $96.4K while shorts contributed only $35.39. The one-hour window recorded $10.6K of long liquidations and no short liquidations.

Several individual events mark the nearby pressure points. A $48.9K long was liquidated at $0.4921, while a $33.2K Bybit long was liquidated at $0.4965. On the upside, a $61.2K short liquidation occurred at $0.5103, with another $34.9K short liquidation at $0.5008. The account-level long/short ratio is especially stretched on Bybit at 84.4% long and OKX at 80.3%, yet Binance takers are only 52.1% long and Gate takers are 46.3% long. Passive accounts are leaning bullish while active flow is split, or outright short on Gate.

Verdict: The key level is $0.4921 on price against roughly $453.8M in open interest. Holding above $0.4921 while OI stabilizes would weaken the bearish crowding signal; a break below it with OI still contracting would favor another long-liquidation wave. The view is invalidated if ONDO reclaims $0.5103 and active taker flow turns clearly long while OI rebuilds above the current $453.8M area.
