Ondo Price Breakout Meets a 63.1% Open-Interest Surge Across Venues

Ondo is trading at $0.5055 after a 22.9% advance, with aggregate open interest at $466.1M, up 63.1% over 24 hours. That combination makes the move more than a spot-led bounce: leverage has expanded rapidly alongside price. Volume also reached $1.85B, up 286.5%, while the 1-hour open-interest change had already turned negative at -7.6%, an early sign that some positions were being reduced into the breakout.

The broader market backdrop includes expanded efforts around USDY, tokenized assets and investment products, giving ONDO a stronger narrative tailwind even as its derivatives positioning becomes increasingly crowded.

Binance and Bybit carry the breakout

The exchange split shows where the leverage is concentrated. Binance holds $99.9M of ONDO open interest, equal to 21.4% of the tracked total, after an 84.0% 24-hour increase. Bybit contributes $85.7M, or 18.4%, with open interest up 47.6%. Gate is smaller at $44.8M and 9.6% share, but its 94.0% daily increase is the fastest among the largest reported venues. OKX holds $24.7M, or 5.3%, after a 70.7% rise, while Bitget has $31.2M, or 6.7%, after a 32.0% increase.

The key signal is breadth: open interest rose across the principal venues instead of being isolated to one exchange. However, the latest four-hour changes were mixed: Binance added just 0.2% and OKX 0.4%, while Bybit slipped 0.1%. Bitget still expanded 3.3% and Gate jumped 12.3%. That divergence suggests the first wave of leverage may be cooling on the largest books even as secondary venues continue adding risk.

Funding is positive, but flow is less bullish

The current funding rate is broadly positive. Binance, Bybit, Bitget, Gate and OKX each show 0.005%, while Hyperliquid is at 0.0118% and Bitfinex at 0.0351%. CoinEx is the outlier at 0.5733%, a much more expensive long carry signal on that venue. By contrast, Coinbase is at -0.0032% and Kraken at -0.0002%, showing that bullish leverage is not uniform across every market.

Account positioning is decisively long: the aggregate reading is 69.4% long, versus 62.0% for takers. Binance accounts are 64.4% long, but its takers are 40.8% long, meaning active traders are net short. Gate shows the same tension, with accounts 67.3% long while takers are 46.4% long. Bybit accounts are even more extended at 73.2% long, and Bitget reaches 81.4%. This account-versus-taker gap weakens the idea of a clean continuation: holders are positioned for upside, while some immediate execution flow is selling into strength.

Liquidations confirm a volatile breakout

The liquidation structure has shifted from short pressure to two-way risk. In the latest hour, long liquidations reached $273.8K against $25.9K shorts, but the four-hour window reversed that balance: $753.3K longs were liquidated versus $923.8K shorts. Across 12 hours, shorts accounted for $2.60M compared with $1.55M longs, and the 24-hour total reached $4.24M, including $2.65M shorts and $1.59M longs.

That short-liquidation dominance supports the breakout thesis, but the recent hourly long wipeout is a warning that upside chasing is already being punished. The largest reported event was a $107.9K short liquidation at $0.45194864, while OKX recorded short liquidations of $61.4K at $0.51160000 and $57.4K at $0.51610000. The latter levels show that upside squeezes are now reaching into the area immediately above the current price, where fresh longs may be vulnerable.

Verdict: ONDO retains a bullish breakout bias while price holds $0.5055 and aggregate open interest remains near $466.1M without another sharp contraction. A push through $0.51160000 and $0.51610000 would confirm that short liquidation demand is still extending the move. The view is invalidated if price loses $0.5055 while open interest falls materially from $466.1M, especially if long liquidations again exceed short liquidations in the active window.
