SAND Leads 24-Hour Liquidations at $8.2M as PUMP Gains 15.7%

The derivatives tape is showing a sharp but selective reset: total 24-hour liquidations reached $53.2M, with $29.2M from shorts versus $24.0M from longs. SAND led the coin ranking at $8.2M, while the futures leaderboard put JEANPHIL up 172.3% and AIN up 105.2%. That combination points to crowded positioning being flushed even as speculative momentum remains active.
Top liquidation coins
- SAND: The clear leader saw $8.2M liquidated across 6,607 events, split between $3.9M of longs and $4.3M of shorts. Its 24-hour futures price gain was 51.1%, so the liquidation total reflects a violent two-way repricing rather than a simple one-sided selloff.
- PUMP: PUMP posted $3.9M in liquidations, including $2.9M of shorts, while rising 15.7% to $0.0064 on $976.8M of futures volume. The large short component makes this a classic squeeze candidate, but the move is already heavily monetized by forced buyers.
- WLD: WLD recorded $3.1M liquidated, with $2.0M from shorts, and traded at $0.6094 in the largest individual liquidation reported for the token. Its 43.4% 90-day gain and $1.4B sample volume show that the token has meaningful participation, not just a thin-volume spike.
- Bitcoin: BTC ranked fourth with $2.8M liquidated, of which $1.5M came from shorts, across 450 events. The largest reported BTC wipeouts were short positions near $85,309.60 and $85,295.60, showing how quickly leverage can be removed around the upper-$85,000 area.
- Ethereum: ETH saw $2.6M liquidated, dominated by $2.0M in shorts, and two major reported events occurred near $2,695.03 and $2,684.32. Its latest ETF flow was negative at $55.4M, contrasting with BTC's positive $102.7M flow and making ETH's leverage profile less supportive.
- ZEC: ZEC generated $2.5M in liquidations, but unlike most leaders, longs contributed $1.6M versus $0.9M from shorts. Its 188.3% 90-day gain suggests that profit-taking and long de-risking are important parts of the current volatility.
Momentum leaders and reversals
The gainers list is led by JEANPHIL at $0.005518, up 172.3% on $1.1M in volume, followed by STOCKER at $0.007721, up 165.0% on $1.4M. ZC added 156.9% to $0.0393 on $2.7M, while AINBSC and AIN gained 105.3% and 105.2%. AIN stands out because its $519.9M volume is far larger than the smaller speculative leaders, giving the move more market impact.
Among liquid, established momentum names, STRK rose 21.7% to $0.05254 on $385.5M, PUMP gained 15.7% on $976.8M, ZRO climbed 15.6% to $2.0231 on $435.8M, and ONE added 14.8% to $0.0024892 on $309.7M. These are stronger ranking signals than a percentage gain alone because the moves arrived with substantial futures turnover.
The downside board is equally concentrated. JINQIAN fell 73.6% to $0.00087 on $1.8M, APH dropped 47.6% to $82.82, and BLAST lost 43.5% to $0.0001281. BTW declined 34.2% to $0.919 on $361.8M, while MAGMA fell 26.1% to $0.23797 on $305.3M; both are material because their volume is large enough to transmit stress beyond a single thin contract.
Market structure and verdict
The broader backdrop is not fully risk-off. The 90-day altseason index is 70, with 35 of 50 assets outperforming, while the market carries $128.2B in total derivatives open interest. BTC options show $29.9B in open interest, a 0.5561 put-call ratio, and an index price of $84,828.45. The nearest reported max-pain levels are $85,000 for Oct 4 and Oct 5, then $84,000 for the Oct 9 expiry.
CoinVictor's exclusive read is that the immediate bias remains squeeze-prone but capped: BTC should be treated as constructive above $84,000, with $85,000 the first price magnet and $84,000 the key downside level. The view is invalidated if BTC loses $84,000 while options open interest expands beyond $29.9B, because that would signal fresh downside positioning rather than a completed leverage reset. For altcoins, SAND's $8.2M liquidation lead and PUMP's $976.8M volume favor rotation into liquid names, not indiscriminate chasing.
