SEI +7.6% to $0.05: OI Up 8.9%, Funding Stays Ice-Cold

SEI Outruns a Flat Tape
The token has been the quiet outperformer of the past day. Bitcoin sits near $77,266, basically flat, while ETH gives back 1.23% to $2,389 and SOL drifts to $99.5. Against that backdrop SEI is up 7.6% to $0.04998, trading right at the top of its 24-hour range of $0.04555 to $0.05011. Binance quotes the same move at +7.55% and OKX at +7.60%, so the reading holds across the two largest spot venues. Spot turnover is real too: Binance shows about $23.6M in volume over 24 hours and LBank is even bigger at $43M, with Bybit, MEXC and Bitget adding depth below them.
Open Interest Rebuilds With Fresh Longs
The more interesting part is derivatives. SEI open interest is up 8.94% over 24 hours to $46.8M, and the build is led by the big exchanges rather than one outlier. Binance added 15.93% to its book, OKX is up 12.98%, Bybit 11.61% and Bitget 8.23%. Binance alone carries about 18.7% of total OI, with Bybit close behind. The 4-hour window shows the accumulation is still live: Binance OI kept adding 8.93% in the last four hours even after the price had already moved. That pattern, price up and positions up together, points to fresh longs entering the market instead of shorts covering into a squeeze.
Funding Stays Cold, No Squeeze Premium Yet
Funding rates tell the same story. The average sits at roughly 0.0047% per interval, with Binance at 0.01%, Bybit at 0.01%, OKX at 0.005% and Hyperliquid near zero at 0.0007%. In a real short squeeze those numbers would be spiking toward 0.05% or higher as panic buyers pay to stay long. Instead, longs are paying almost nothing to hold their positions. That is the signature of an early directional bet rather than a late, crowded one. It also means the current price is not being propped up by leverage costs, which keeps the move fragile if spot demand fades, but healthier than a fee-driven pop while it lasts.
What to Watch
The setup comes down to two levels. Support at the $0.0455 area held through the last dip, and resistance at the $0.0501 high is the immediate test. If OI keeps climbing while funding flips positive above 0.01%, late longs are piling in and the risk of a sharp flush back to $0.046 rises. If funding stays this cold, the position build still has room to run and a break above $0.0501 would open the next leg. For traders scanning alt rotation, this is doing what most alts failed to do today: holding gains on a green day in a red market, with derivatives confirming rather than front-running the spot move.
