TRUMP +7.1% to $2.39: Funding Flips Positive, OI $210.6M

TRUMP climbs to $2.39 as shorts cover
TRUMP perps traded back above $2.39 late Friday US time, and this rally is built differently from the one on Sept 3. Binance and OKX both quote the token at $2.393, up 7.1% in 24 hours, with the day's range spanning $2.231 to $2.456 across the two venues. Spot volume reached roughly $462 million over the same window. The liquidation ledger has flipped with it: shorts paid about $987,000 of the last 24 hours' $1.32 million in TRUMP liquidations, or close to three-quarters of the total.
Funding turns positive across major venues
What changed is on the funding side. Binance, OKX, Bybit, Bitget and Gate all print a 0.005% funding rate for the current window, while open-interest-weighted funding sits at 0.005%. That is a clear break from the negative prints that marked the Sept 3 rebound, when longs were still paying for the bounce. Kraken stands out at 0.0235%, but most venues are clustered at the same mild positive level. Positive funding means new longs are now willing to pay the carry to hold positions, a shift from the short-leaning setup that dominated earlier in the week.
OI adds 10.2% to $210.6M, OKX and Whitebit lead
Open interest climbed 10.2% in 24 hours to $210.6 million across 17 venues. Binance still holds the largest slice at 32.2% ($67.9M), with Bybit at 17.1% and OKX at 15.1%. The growth is not evenly spread: OKX added 18.7% on the day and Whitebit 11.1%, while Kraken's OI jumped 34.9% in the last four hours alone. Hyperliquid accounts for 7.2% at $15.2 million, up 9.2%. The build is broad rather than concentrated on one exchange, which makes it harder to read as a single whale pushing the tape.
Mild funding, not crowding yet
The interesting part is how restrained the funding flip is. A crowded long book would push rates toward 0.1% or higher after a 7% move. At 0.005%, the market is pricing in fresh demand without the froth that usually precedes a squeeze back down. The level to watch is the $2.45 zone, the 24-hour high that rejected the rally on Sept 3. If OI keeps adding while funding stays under 0.01%, longs still have room; if funding spikes above 0.03% on the next leg up, the setup starts to look overheated for a token whose last three breakouts each ended in a 15-30% giveback.
TRUMP remains a high-beta name where leverage direction tends to overshoot on both sides. The current picture, positive funding with a steady OI build and shorts paying into strength, is consistent with a continuation attempt rather than a short-covering blip. Traders holding perps should watch the funding reset every four hours and the $2.45 high as the two tell-tale signals.
