WIF +14.7% to $0.2254: OI Jumps 26%, Funding Flat at 0.005%

WIF Rallies 14.7% While Open Interest Climbs 26.3%
WIF is trading at $0.2254 on Binance, up 14.7% in the last 24 hours, with OKX showing $0.2255 and a nearly identical 14.8% gain. The move looks solid on the tape, but the more interesting signal sits in the derivatives book: total open interest across venues rose 26.3% to $89.5 million in the same window. Price and OI moving up together usually means new positions are being opened rather than old ones covered.
The 24-hour range tells the same story. WIF printed a low of $0.1943 and a high of $0.2314 on Binance, so the rally is not a single violent spike. It is a steady climb with buyers stepping in at multiple levels. Volume of roughly $41.4 million on Binance alone gives the move enough footprint to be treated as real rather than a thin-order-book move.
Funding Flat at 0.005%: New Money, Not a Squeeze
Here is where this rally differs from most meme-coin pumps. Funding rates across the majors are sitting near zero. Binance, OKX and Bybit all show 0.005%, while Hyperliquid is at 0.004%. A typical short squeeze would push funding deeply positive as longs pay shorts to hold. That is not happening.
Flat funding during a 14.7% price gain points to fresh long positioning at reasonable cost. Traders are adding exposure without crowding into one side, which leaves room for the move to extend. It also means the rally is not built on leveraged pressure that can unwind violently if the price stalls.
Binance Leads the Build, MEXC Holds Second
The OI increase is not concentrated in one venue. Binance added 40.6% in 24 hours to reach $20.5 million, about 23% of the total. MEXC holds $17.8 million with a 23.1% gain, and Bybit is close behind at $17.1 million, up 24.8%. KuCoin and Hyperliquid round out the top five with $7.9 million and $5.6 million respectively.
Four-hour changes tell a fresher story. Binance OI is up another 35.6% over the last four hours, and Whitebit added 33.3%, so the build is still accelerating. The breadth of the increase across exchanges makes it harder to dismiss as a single market maker or a thin liquidity event.
What the Flat Rate Means Next
Liquidations were minimal during this move, which confirms the squeeze thesis is weak. WIF did not appear among the top liquidation coins in the last 24 hours. When a price jump runs on fresh OI with calm funding and light liquidations, the setup is healthier than a typical meme spike, but it also means there is no forced-buying engine underneath.
If funding stays flat while price holds above $0.22, the long base built here can support a continued climb. If funding spikes above 0.02% on a push toward the $0.2314 high, the move starts looking crowded and pullback risk rises. Watch the funding print at the next settlement window.
