Worldcoin OI Climbs 14.5% as $510.8M Positions Reprice

Worldcoin futures are showing a sharp leverage expansion: total open interest stands near $510.8M, up 14.5% in 24 hours, while WLD trades at $0.5577 after a 9.9% daily move. The important nuance is that the latest build is broad but not uniform. Major venues added exposure over the day, yet their most recent four-hour changes are already negative, suggesting the surge is meeting short-term profit-taking rather than accelerating without resistance.

Recent market coverage has turned increasingly positive on WLD’s price structure and its ability to challenge nearby resistance.

Binance leads, but the build is widespread

Binance holds the largest reported WLD position at $112.2M, equal to 22.0% of the tracked total, and its open interest is up 20.4% over 24 hours. Bybit follows with $86.1M, or 16.9%, after an 11.4% increase. Gate accounts for $56.1M, or 11.0%, and has posted the strongest daily expansion among these large venues at 23.6%. OKX contributes $40.2M, or 7.9%, after a 21.7% rise.

That distribution matters because the move is not dependent on a single exchange. Across the tracked market, the aggregate total is $509.7M, up 14.5%. However, Binance’s four-hour change is down 0.3%, while OKX, Bybit, Gate and Bitget are down 1.1%, 1.5%, 0.8% and 1.4%, respectively. The combination points to a large 24-hour leverage impulse that has begun to cool at the margin.

Funding is positive, but takers hedge

The funding map is broadly positive. Binance, Bybit, Gate, OKX and Bitget each show a current funding rate of 0.01%, while Backpack is at 0.00125%. The cross-venue spread is still meaningful: Coinbase is at -0.0581%, CoinEx at -0.016769%, and dYdX is at 0%. This is not a clean one-way pricing signal. Most listed venues charge longs, but several venues still show negative funding, indicating that demand for short protection remains active.

The account-versus-taker split makes that tension clearer. Across the headline ticker reading, 64.5% of accounts are long, while the active taker reading is only 34.5% long. On Binance, accounts are 64.1% long but takers are 38.0% long. OKX shows 59.8% long accounts against 42.3% long takers, while Gate has 59.5% long accounts and only 23.2% long takers. In other words, passive positioning is bullish, but aggressive flow is predominantly selling. That can support the rally if shorts are hedges, but it also warns that the next upside leg needs fresh spot or futures demand rather than simply more crowded accounts.

Liquidations show a changing squeeze profile

Reported liquidations total $1.7M over 24 hours, with $1.3M from shorts and $451.8K from longs. The imbalance confirms that the broader move has forced bearish positions out. Yet the shorter windows are less one-sided: the 12-hour window shows $297.2K in short liquidations versus $234.5K in longs, while the four-hour window flips to $91.1K in longs against $14.7K in shorts. The latest hour is even more defensive, with $24.7K in long liquidations and only $1.7 in shorts.

The largest recorded short liquidation levels include $177.3K at $0.5442 and $109.5K at $0.5475 on Binance. A later Binance short liquidation of $43.7K occurred at $0.5651, while OKX recorded a $42.3K long liquidation at $0.5582. These levels frame a market that has already squeezed shorts below the current price, but is also vulnerable to long unwinding near the latest trading zone.

Verdict: The bullish OI view remains valid while WLD holds above $0.5442 and aggregate open interest stays near or above $509.7M; a move through $0.5651 with renewed OI expansion would confirm that leverage is supporting continuation. The view is invalidated if price loses $0.5442 while OI falls below $509.7M, especially with taker longs still below 34.5%, because that would signal long liquidation rather than healthy rotation.
