XRP Fades From $1.433 High: $4.0M Longs Paid, OI $2.18B

XRP Slips After Tagging a $1.433 High
XRP touched $1.4329 on OKX and $1.4310 on Binance within the past 24 hours, then faded to $1.3934, a 2.7% round trip from the top. The 24 hour change sits at -0.84%, with Binance and OKX showing nearly identical ranges: a low of $1.3866 on Binance and $1.3862 on OKX. The fade itself was orderly. The more telling detail is how derivatives traders reacted underneath.
$4.0M in Longs Wiped, Yet Open Interest Grew
Liquidations on the token reached $4.42M over 24 hours, and 90.6% of that was longs, roughly $4.0M. A pullback this shallow usually triggers some deleveraging, but open interest actually rose 1.93% to $2.18B during the same window. Venue data shows where the fresh positions came from: MEXC added 19.7% to reach $230.5M, OKX grew 4.2% to $109.4M, and Bybit added 2.7% to $310.7M. Gate took the opposite side, trimming 4% to $314.7M, and Hyperliquid eased 1.6% to $228.2M. Binance remains the largest pool at $438.5M after a 2.05% gain. Four hour flows point the same way, with OKX up 2.35%, Bybit up 4.08% and MEXC up 12.4%.
The takeaway is that leveraged traders treated the dip as an entry point rather than a reason to exit. When longs get cleared but positions keep building, the new entrants are effectively buying at lower prices than the ones who just got stopped out.
Funding Near Zero Leaves the Next Move Open
Funding rates explain why this setup is not crowded yet. Binance sits at 0.0077% per 8 hours and OKX at 0.0095%, both close to flat. Bybit is slightly negative at -0.0012%, while Bitget and Gate run at the 0.01% level. With carry costs this low, neither side is paying a real penalty, so the OI build after a long flush reads more like neutral repositioning than aggressive leverage.
Two levels frame what happens next. A close back above $1.433 with funding turning clearly positive would confirm that the new longs are chasing momentum. A break below $1.386, the 24 hour low on both major venues, would put those recent entries underwater and could set off a second, faster flush. Between those levels, the range trade is the path of least resistance while BTC itself consolidates around $79K.
