XRP Steadies at $1.50: Longs Paid $11.3M, OI Rebounds

XRP steadies at $1.50 while leverage resets

XRP is trading around $1.5051 on Binance and $1.5045 on OKX, up about 1.5% over the past day. That is a quiet place to be after a violent round trip: XRP hit $1.60 on August 23, then gave back most of the move and touched $1.4513 in the flush. The pullback cleared out leveraged longs instead of turning into a deeper selloff, and the last few hours show buyers stepping back in near the low. Volume stayed heavy, around $2B on Binance alone, so the washout happened on real two-way flow, not thin liquidity.

Liquidation data: longs carried the cleanup

Over the last 24 hours the coin saw $14.9M in total liquidations, with longs paying $11.3M of that, roughly 75% of the total. Shorts were hit for only $3.67M. The split matches a leveraged-long cleanup after the August 23 rejection, not a broad market exit. Exchange-level numbers tell the same story: Binance processed $170.9M of crypto liquidations in the same window with a fairly balanced long-short mix, OKX added $98M, and Hyperliquid $53M, so the squeeze pressure was spread across venues rather than concentrated in one book.

Open interest turns back up across venues

Total open interest is steady at $2.42B, and the 4-hour changes show rebuilding: OKX OI is up 3.76%, Bybit up 3.6%, Gate up 3.35%, Bitget up 1.08%, and Binance up 0.74%. The 24-hour figures were slightly negative, which means the reset happened first, then fresh positions started coming in. Funding has normalized to 0.01% on Binance, OKX and Bybit, a neutral baseline that leaves room for either side without an immediate squeeze. When funding was deeply negative last week, shorts were being paid to hold; that carry trade is gone now.

What this means for traders

The setup differs from a week ago. Then the asset was climbing into $1.60 with longs piling in; now the book has been cleared and price is finding support around $1.45-1.50 while OI rebuilds from a lower base. The level to watch is $1.53, the 24-hour high, because a reclaim there would put the August 23 swing into question. A drop back under $1.45 would suggest the rebuild is failing and long positions are still exposed. In the broader alt picture, this matters too: with the altseason index back at 50, capital is not aggressively rotating, so a name like XRP holding its range on rising OI stands out as one of the few assets where leverage is being rebuilt rather than unwound.
