ADA +2.6% to $0.201, OI $382M: Binance, Gate Add, MEXC Cuts

ADA Rises While BTC Wavers Near $77K
ADA is one of the few large caps in the green over the past 24 hours, up 2.6% to $0.201. BTC is hovering around $77.2K and ETH is down about 1.2%, yet Cardano's token has climbed steadily and is sitting close to its session high on Binance, where the 24-hour range runs from $0.1918 to $0.2010. OKX shows the same picture at $0.2010 with a 2.66% gain, so the move is not coming from one thin order book.
The push comes with real volume behind it. Across the exchanges CoinVictor tracks, ADA traded about $377 million in the last day, which is a meaningful pickup for a coin that had been drifting sideways for weeks.
Open Interest Tops $382M: Two Camps Form
Total open interest on ADA perpetuals now sits at $382.5 million, up 2.4% in 24 hours. The growth is concentrated in the venues that carry the most liquidity. Binance added 4.65% to $75.7 million and now holds roughly 19.8% of the market, and Gate was even more aggressive, up 6.8% to $61.5 million. Bybit and Bitget also added smaller amounts.
The other camp is trimming. KuCoin cut about 3.3% and MEXC reduced its book by 4.8%, with the MEXC decline accelerating to 6.8% in the last four hours. When top-tier venues add while smaller ones pull back, the flow usually reflects institutional-style allocation rather than retail churn, because the biggest books are the ones absorbing the new positions.
Funding Near Zero: This Is Not a Squeeze
Funding rates across Binance, OKX, Bybit, and Gate all sit at 0.01% per eight-hour period, effectively neutral. If ADA's climb were being driven by trapped shorts, funding would have flipped strongly positive and kept climbing as the price rose. It has not. That tells a different story: longs are opening at a measured pace, and the move is being paid for with spot and new margin rather than forced buybacks.
For traders the distinction matters. A squeeze can unwind as fast as it starts. A position build with cold funding is slower, but it also does not carry the same mechanical risk of a violent reversal the moment price stalls.
What to Watch Next
Cardano has lagged the broader market over the past 90 days while BTC gained roughly 20%, so it fits the profile of a laggard catch-up candidate when capital rotates out of majors that have already run. The setup is only healthy while the Binance book keeps growing. If BTC breaks below $76.1K, the recent 24-hour low, the fresh longs have no funding cushion to protect them, and the OI gain could reverse quickly. Watch whether MEXC and KuCoin stop cutting, since their selling has been the main counterweight so far.
