CHIP +19% to $0.0533: OI Record $57.7M, Funding Negative

CHIP presses toward a fresh high

CHIP keeps climbing and the tape is consistent across venues. The token trades near $0.0533 on Binance and $0.0534 on OKX, up about 19% over the past 24 hours and roughly 33% above its day low of $0.0401. The two exchanges that carry the most volume are showing almost the same print, which rules out a move driven by a single thin order book. Binance has done $53.8M in 24-hour turnover on the pair, OKX another $49.5M.

Open interest resets the record

The more telling number sits in derivatives. Aggregate open interest on CHIP perpetuals has risen to $57.7M, up 24.5% in a day and a new record. The previous high, printed in early September around $47M, has been left behind as traders add positions into the rally rather than fade it. The structure is split three ways at the top: Binance holds 25.1% of total OI at $14.5M, Hyperliquid 21% at $12.1M, and Bybit 18.8% at $10.9M. The fastest accumulation is happening on smaller venues. OKX OI jumped 69% in the last four hours alone and MEXC is up 66% over the day, both growing from smaller bases.

Negative funding keeps shorts under pressure

Funding rates lean negative on most venues while the price rises. Binance is at -0.0156%, Gate at -0.0187% and MEXC at -0.0156%, meaning shorts have been the side paying longs through the rally. Bybit is close to flat and Hyperliquid is marginally positive at about +0.0013%. That mix matters. A negative funding tape alongside a 19% gain points to a market where the crowded side is short, and every push higher raises the cost of holding that position. If the squeeze continues, those shorts either cover into strength or keep paying, and either outcome feeds the move. It is the opposite of a long-driven melt-up, where funding would be deeply positive and vulnerable to a snap-back.

What to watch next

The setup comes down to the OI record and who is holding it. Fresh longs piling in on OKX and MEXC at these levels are betting the breakout extends, and the four-hour OI momentum supports that read so far. The flip side is the risk if momentum stalls: with $57.7M in open positions built against a $0.05 token, a reversal can liquidate quickly. Watch funding through the next few cycles. If it turns positive, the short-covering fuel is spent and the advance shifts to a long-led climb with a different risk profile. If it stays negative while OI keeps growing, the short side remains the fuel tank. Key levels for now are the session high near $0.0538 and the day low of $0.0401 as the first support zone.
