XPL +7% to $0.0887: OI Up 26% to $189.5M, Bybit Adds 41%

XPL is trading at $0.0887, up 6.5% on Binance and close to 7% on OKX over the past 24 hours. The Plasma network token has also seen open interest jump 26% to $189.5M, with Bybit adding positions faster than any other major venue. Funding, however, has barely moved.
Where the new size is going
Hyperliquid holds the largest XPL derivatives book at $47.4M, roughly 25% of the total. Binance follows with $41.4M and Bybit sits just behind at $40.4M. The more telling detail is where growth is fastest: Bybit's book expanded 41% over the day, ahead of MEXC at 35%, Hyperliquid at 25% and Binance at 20%. The build kept going into the latest four-hour window too, with Bybit up another 24% and Hyperliquid 12%. This is fresh positioning, not leftover momentum from an earlier session.
Funding says this is not a squeeze
Funding across venues averages about 0.005% per interval, with Binance and Hyperliquid both sitting near that level. That matters because XPL is up 7% on the day and about 10% off its 24-hour low of $0.0807. When a rally of this size runs on short liquidations, funding usually spikes and open interest tends to shrink as forced positions close. Neither is happening. XPL does not even show up among the top liquidated coins over the past day, which points to a spot-led move with measured long positioning instead of forced covering.
What to watch on an XPL pullback
The 24-hour range on Binance runs from $0.0807 to $0.0905, and the token has not yet cleared the top of that band. Volume behind the move is real: roughly $140M traded across venues in a day, with around $40M on Binance spot alone. For longs, the level to respect is the $0.088 area where price has been consolidating; a daily close back under it would put the recent high back in question even with open interest still growing. For now the setup reads as gradual leverage accumulation with cold funding, which historically leaves room for more upside but also ties the move to spot demand rather than squeeze mechanics. Watch whether Bybit and Hyperliquid keep adding size. If those two books stall while price fades, the positioning would start to look like distribution.
