CYS Crashes 35.7% to $0.431: OI Sheds 25.7%, Longs Pay 88%

CYS fell hard over the past 24 hours, dropping 35.7% to $0.431 on Binance after touching a session low of $0.4225. The move erased most of the gains the token built in late August and forced a broad unwind across perpetual venues.

The 59% round trip in one day

The slide started from a high of $0.6738 and ran almost nonstop, with the low hitting $0.4225, a swing of roughly 37% from peak to trough. Spot and perpetual prices moved together, and ten exchanges showed near-identical prints around $0.43 at the time of writing. Volume on Binance alone reached $94.5 million for the day, so this was a real selloff with participation, not a thin-market drift.

Open interest shrinks as leverage exits

Total open interest fell 25.7% to $26.7 million, meaning traders closed positions instead of adding to them. Binance, the largest venue with 34% of open interest, cut 20.2%. MEXC slashed 52.8% and Bitget cut 28%, while KuCoin trimmed 15.6%. Four-hour changes were milder, which suggests the bulk of the deleveraging happened earlier in the move and the pace is slowing.

Longs absorbed the damage

Liquidations over the past 24 hours reached roughly $587,000 across CYS pairs, with longs accounting for 88% of that total. Funding rates sit near zero, slightly negative on Binance and Gate, marginally positive on Bitget and KuCoin. In plain terms, the flush came from long positions being forced out, not from a surge of aggressive shorting.

What to watch now

The setup after a flush like this is a smaller book and less fuel for either direction. With open interest down a quarter and funding flat, the immediate squeeze risk is low on both sides. The key level is the $0.42 area; a break below it opens room toward the late-August range, while a reclaim of $0.47 would signal dip buyers are back. For traders, the CYS book is thin enough that position sizing matters more than usual right now.
