EGLD Down 10.8% to $4.60: OI -11%, KuCoin Adds 53%

EGLD Reverses After a 30% Pump
EGLD is trading at $4.60, down 10.8% over the past 24 hours on Binance and OKX, after the token jumped 30% to $5.11 on Wednesday when open interest nearly doubled. The move higher lasted less than a day. Price has now retraced most of that leg and sits about 15% below the 24-hour high of $5.437.
The reversal is not a leverage wipeout in the classic sense. Total open interest across 12 exchanges fell 11.2% to $27.7M, which points to position closing rather than forced liquidation stacking. Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget all cut their books on the token by double digits over the same window.
Who Is Cutting and Who Is Adding
The breakdown shows a clear split. Binance trimmed its OI by 13.7% to $5.16M, OKX cut 32.8% to $1.03M, Bybit reduced 12.8% to $3.53M and Bitget shrank 14.5% to $2.85M. MEXC remains the largest venue for the token's perps with $9.56M in open interest, but it also reduced by 17.4%.
The outlier is KuCoin, which grew its EGLD position 52.7% in 24 hours to $3.25M, lifting its share to 11.7% from roughly 7%. That is a sizeable bet taken while the rest of the market is stepping away, and it explains why the funding picture has not turned uniformly negative.
Funding Stays Mixed
Funding rates across venues are near zero and pointing in different directions. Binance sits at a slightly positive 0.0074%, while KuCoin and Gate are negative at -0.0596% and -0.0849% respectively. The open-interest-weighted rate is roughly -0.002%, essentially flat. A market that was crowded with longs two days ago has repriced, but shorts are not being paid much to hold either.
For traders the signal is about leverage, not direction. The token doubled its futures book during the rally and is now unwinding it at a measured pace. KuCoin's counter-trend accumulation is worth watching: if price stabilizes near $4.50, that book becomes a candidate for a squeeze; if $4.50 breaks, the added position only deepens the loss.
What to Watch
Two levels frame the near-term setup. The 24-hour low at $4.507 is the first test. A close below it with OI still shrinking would confirm liquidation-driven downside. A hold above $4.60 with KuCoin's position still growing would signal that dip buyers are absorbing the exit flow. Until one of those clears, the coin looks like it is between trades rather than starting a fresh trend.
