LINK Dips 1.3%: Longs Paid 97% of $1.34M, OI Holds $563M

LINK Slips 1.3% While Longs Take the Hit

LINK traded at $11.33 on Binance and OKX at the time of writing, down about 1.3% over the past 24 hours after a high of $11.48 and a low of $11.05. The move itself is modest, but the liquidation breakdown tells a sharper story: longs paid 97% of the $1.34 million wiped across exchanges in the same window, roughly $1.30 million against just $43,700 in short liquidations.

That skew matches a market where spot selling is gentle but leveraged buyers keep getting clipped on small dips. The interesting part is what did not happen: open interest barely moved.

OI Holds Near $563M, Leverage Not Clearing

Aggregate open interest across 20 venues sat at about $563 million, down only 1% from 24 hours earlier. Gate holds the largest single share at $121.8 million, slightly ahead of Binance at $114.2 million, a structure that has been stable for weeks. Bybit actually added 1% of OI during the same window, and the four-hour change turned positive at most major venues, including Binance at +2.2% and Bybit at +5.9%.

In a typical flush, a 97% long-side liquidation share would come with a visible drop in OI. Here the position book barely shrank. New longs appear to be replacing the ones getting stopped out, which keeps the market in a churn rather than a real deleveraging event.

Funding Near Zero: No Crowding Either Way

Weighted funding sits around 0.000006, effectively neutral, with Binance at 0.0062%, OKX at 0.01%, and Bybit negative at -0.0108%. There is no crowded short side paying longs and no crowded long side paying shorts. Neutral funding alongside a stable OI suggests both sides are holding positions near breakeven, waiting for direction rather than positioning aggressively.

That is a different setup from the August 24 squeeze, when LINK rebounded to $11.65 and shorts paid 75% of liquidations. The current tape is quieter: no squeeze, no cascade, just a steady drip of long liquidations absorbed without forcing OI lower.

What to Watch

The key level to track is the 24-hour low near $11.05. If price breaks below it with OI still holding above $560 million, the long liquidation pressure has room to accelerate because there is no funding cushion to discourage fresh shorts either. Conversely, if OI starts shedding while price stabilizes, that would mark genuine position clearing and a healthier base for a rebound.

For now, the data points to churn: leverage stays parked, longs bleed slowly, and neither side has enough conviction to set a clear direction. Watching the OI reaction at the low is more informative than watching the price tick itself.
