PYTH Rallies 9% While the Tape Slips

PYTH, the oracle token behind Pyth Network, is trading at $0.0548, up roughly 9% over the past 24 hours. Binance quotes $0.05482 with a 9.03% gain, OKX shows $0.05486 and +9.22%, and both mark a similar range near the $0.0563 high and $0.0483 low. The move stands out because BTC is down 1.3% and ETH about 1.9% in the same window, so this is not beta following the majors.

The rally started from a low print near $0.0483 and has held into the afternoon session. What matters for traders is not just the price swing but what the derivatives book is doing underneath it.

Open Interest Up 17% to $34.5M, Binance Leads

Total PYTH open interest sits near $34.5M, up 17% in 24 hours, and every major venue except two added contracts. Binance remains the largest pool at $10.39M, roughly 30% of the market, with its book up 20.7%. Bybit holds $8.85M and adds 14.4%, Bitget is up 15.1%, KuCoin adds 8.8% and WhiteBIT 19.3%. OKX, the second reference venue, grew 17% to $1.56M.

Positioning is building on a broad front, which reads as fresh demand rather than one exchange carrying the whole move.

Hyperliquid Adds OI the Fastest as MEXC Exits

The outlier is Hyperliquid. Its book for PYTH rose 69% over 24 hours and another 56.4% in the last four hours, reaching about $2.99M and an 8.7% share of the market. Leveraged traders on that venue are chasing the token aggressively. On the other side, MEXC cut its open interest by 14.4% over the day and 11.6% in the last four hours, a rare pullback on a rising tape. Rotation like this often marks an early phase: leverage arrives first on faster venues, then spreads to the rest.

Funding Stays Cold, Longs Are Not Crowded Yet

Funding rates across Binance, OKX, Bybit, Bitget and Gate sit at 0.005% per interval or lower, with an open-interest-weighted average near 0.0045%. At those levels a long costs almost nothing to hold, so the 9% rally has not turned into a crowded trade. The scenario to watch is funding pushing above 0.01% while Hyperliquid keeps its 50%-plus four-hour OI growth, a combination that often precedes sharp squeezes in both directions.

For now the structure looks like accumulation: price higher, OI higher, funding flat. A break of the $0.0563 high with funding still cold would open the next leg. A flush that takes open interest below $30M would signal the leveraged crowd losing conviction.
