96.4% Win-Rate Whale Down $1.98M: 20x SOL Long Bleeds

96.4% win-rate whale now sits underwater
The Hyperliquid whale 0x469e9a7f624b04c24f0e64edf8d8a277e6bf58a5 has a tracked win rate of 96.43% across 589 closed trades and has realized $4.55M in profit, but the open book right now does not look like a winner. The latest position reading, pulled live Sept 2, shows twelve open positions with roughly $73M in gross notional and -$1.98M in unrealized PnL. The wallet equity sits near $7.82M, which means paper losses have consumed about a quarter of the account.
20x SOL long is the biggest bleed
The single largest drag is a SOL long opened at $105.50 with 20x cross leverage. The position holds 182,589 SOL, now marked near $100.20 on Binance and $100.23 on OKX, roughly 5% below entry, showing a paper loss of about $980K. Return on margin for the trade has reached -101.8%, meaning the loss has already passed the margin posted on that leg. Liquidation is still far, near $54.4, so the position is not in immediate danger. It is simply the heaviest weight on the portfolio.
Shorts on HYPE, ETH and XRP keep leaking
Three shorts add to the pressure because each one sits above its entry. A 10x HYPE short of 150,000 tokens from $80.00 is down about $484K with HYPE near $83.3. An ETH short of 3,000 ETH from $2,410.6 is down roughly $34K at $2,422. A 20x XRP short of 5 million XRP entered at $1.3288 is down about $92K with XRP at $1.3488. The structure is mixed: this wallet stayed long SOL and BTC through the slide while shorting the bounce in HYPE, ETH and XRP, and both sides of the book are losing at the same time. The only meaningful winner among the twelve positions is a 10x ENA long, up about $74K after ENA rose roughly 4% in the last 24 hours.
Closed trades tell one story, the open book another
The gap between record and current positions is the part worth studying. The wallet shows 568 wins out of 589 closed trades, $4.55M realized profit against only $31.5K in fees, and a modest $341K maximum drawdown. Those numbers describe a disciplined, high-frequency trader who rarely books a loser. The open positions describe the same trader holding through adverse moves instead of cutting, at least for now. Win rate only measures closed trades. Until these positions are closed, the 96.43% figure stays a historical fact, not a prediction of how this book ends.
