Smart-Money Whale Wiped $3.76M: 3 BTC Longs in 29 Min

Smart-Money Wallet Loses $3.76M on Three BTC Longs

A Hyperliquid whale flagged as smart money lost $3.76 million in under half an hour on Tuesday night Beijing time. Three separate BTC longs were liquidated between 01:59 and 02:28, starting with 20 BTC at $77,235 and ending with 12.8 BTC at $76,745. The three positions together held 48.8 BTC, and all three were wiped during a slide that took Bitcoin to $76.4K on both Binance and OKX.

The wallet is not a random gambler. Its tracked history shows 641 closed trades with a 58.97% win rate and $3.73 million in realized profit, against roughly $300,000 in fees. Top traded coins are BTC, HYPE, ZEC, ETH and SOL. A losing stretch of this size eats about two weeks of average profit, which puts the scale of the flush in perspective.

The 29-Minute Cascade Behind the Wipe

The three liquidations happened as the asset made a fast leg down. The first hit at 01:59 at $77,235, the second at 02:27 at $76,989, and the last at 02:28 at $76,745. That timing pattern matters: the first long was taken out 490 dollars above the last one, so the wallet was not caught by a single spike. It was caught by a grinding decline that broke several local supports in a row.

This matches the broader tape. Over the last four hours, $164.1 million in positions were liquidated network-wide, with $149.4 million of that on the long side, about 91%. The 24-hour figure is $292.8 million with longs paying 80%. Binance alone accounted for $124 million of that total, roughly 42%.

Late Shorts Now Pay the Bill as Price Bounces

The interesting part is what happened after the flush. BTC has recovered to $77.3K, roughly $1,000 off the $76.4K low. In the last hour, liquidations flipped: $4.47 million of shorts were wiped against just $0.48 million of longs, about 90% short-side. Traders who sold the breakdown are now getting squeezed on the recovery leg, the mirror image of the whale's longs a few hours earlier.

Open interest tells the same story of a market that refuses to clean house. Bitcoin OI is down only 1.64% over 24 hours to $43.9 billion, and funding rates stayed positive through the drop, with Binance at 0.0058% and OKX at 0.0071% per eight hours. Leverage that got flushed was replaced quickly, and the cost of holding longs barely moved.

What to Watch After a Smart-Money Wipe

For traders, this sequence is a reminder that even high-win-rate wallets get run over when a slide turns mechanical. The practical signals to follow are the OI recovery and the funding rate: if open interest rebuilds above $44 billion while price stalls, the same long-heavy setup is back; if funding flips negative, the flush is more likely to be the start of deleveraging rather than a one-off event.
