TRUMP -6.2% to $2.28: OI Sheds 10%, Funding Near Zero

TRUMP pulled back to $2.28 on Tuesday, down 6.2% over 24 hours, and the derivatives book is shrinking with it. Open interest across major venues fell about 10% to $184 million, while funding rates collapsed toward zero, a sign that the leveraged chase which pushed the token up sharply last week has mostly unwound.

Leverage exits as price fades

Total open interest for TRUMP futures slipped 9.99% in 24 hours to $184.16 million, after running well above $200 million during last week's squeeze. Binance led the cuts with OI down 10.55%, followed by OKX at -10.2% and Gate at -12.78%. Bybit trimmed 8.61%, while Bitget barely moved at -1.89%, keeping its book relatively sticky. The 4-hour snapshot shows the exit is still in progress: Binance OI is down another 3.89% and OKX 6.89% over the last four hours, so deleveraging has not fully stopped even as the price stabilizes near $2.28.

Longs pay 88% of the liquidation bill

Over the past 24 hours, TRUMP recorded $2.26 million in liquidations, and long positions accounted for 88.5% of that. The split matches the price path: the token hit an intraday high of $2.47 before sliding to a low of $2.27, so most of the damage hit buyers who chased the rally late. In dollar terms the flush is small next to BTC's $105.7 million or ETH's $83.9 million, but it is heavily one-directional, which tells you who was holding the leverage when momentum stalled.

Funding flattens: speculation cools

Funding rates across exchanges have converged near zero. Binance charges 0.00135% per 8-hour window, Hyperliquid sits at 0.0012%, and Bitget is slightly negative at -0.0061%. The open-interest-weighted average is essentially flat at 0.0019%. After last week's squeeze, when shorts paid out $8.6 million in a single day, neither side is willing to pay up for direction right now. That flat funding is the key signal to watch: a market where no one pays a premium to hold a position is usually waiting for a catalyst rather than building conviction.

What to watch next

With flat funding and shrinking OI, TRUMP futures are in a wait-and-see phase. A break above $2.47 would require fresh longs to commit and rebuild OI; a break below $2.27 would likely trigger another round of long liquidations, since leverage still leans to the long side. For traders, the funding print at the next settlement is the fastest way to tell whether this pause turns into a rebuild or another flush. Right now the book is neutral and the ball is in the spot market's court.
