ZRO +11.4% to $1.19: OI Jumps 23.7% to $123M, Funding Flat

ZRO climbs 11.4% with open interest adding $23.7M
ZRO is trading at $1.1905 on both Binance and OKX, up 11.4% over the past 24 hours. The move pushed the token to a high of $1.3447 before it settled back, and total open interest across derivatives exchanges climbed 23.7% to $123 million. That is the kind of combination that usually signals fresh positioning, not just a dead-cat bounce on thin volume.
Where did the leverage go? Hyperliquid still holds the biggest slice at $44.6 million, up 22.4% on the day, and Binance added 34.3% to reach $27.2 million. OKX rose 32.7% from a smaller base. In other words, the increase is spread across the major venues rather than concentrated on one exchange, which makes it harder to dismiss as a single market-maker repositioning.
Funding at 0.005% says this is not a squeeze
The tell is funding. Perpetual funding across ZRO markets averaged 0.00308% over the last cycle, with Binance sitting at 0.005%. A short squeeze typically sends funding sharply positive because buyers are forced to pay up to keep positions open. Here, price gained more than 11% while funding barely moved, which points to new longs entering at reasonable rates rather than shorts being run over.
Liquidations back that reading. Only $1.16 million was wiped out across the token in the last 24 hours, split almost evenly between longs at $560,000 and shorts at $603,000. For context, that is roughly 1% of the token's open interest. When a rally is powered by forced covering, liquidation volume usually spikes alongside price. It did not.
Pullback from $1.3447: 4-hour OI is already cooling
The move is not one-way. ZRO tagged $1.3447 earlier in the window and has since pulled back to $1.19, and the 4-hour open interest print is down 3.9% after the run-up. That suggests a portion of the fresh longs took profit near the highs, and the market is digesting the gain rather than stacking leverage into a vertical candle.
The practical question is whether $1.19 holds. The 24-hour low on Binance was $1.0426, so the token has already shown it can give back ground quickly. Watching funding over the next two settlement windows matters more than the price level itself: if rates stay at 0.005% while OI keeps climbing, longs are paying little to stay in, and the structure remains healthy. If funding jumps toward 0.05%, the late entries start to look crowded.
What to watch next
For traders, the cleanest signal is the divergence between price momentum and funding. As long as ZRO holds above the $1.10 area with funding below 0.01%, the rally has room; a breakdown with OI still rising would instead warn of trapped longs. Data is current as of 17:30 Beijing time on August 26, covering Binance, OKX, Bybit, Hyperliquid, Gate, Bitget and other major exchanges.
