CRV +16% to $0.358: OI Up 28% to $112M, Funding Flat

CRV at $0.358: A 16% Rally With Real Volume
CRV is trading at $0.358, up 16% over the past 24 hours. Binance and OKX both quote $0.3579 at this snapshot, with a 24-hour high of $0.3628 and a low near $0.30. The move came with volume: the aggregate tape shows roughly $243M traded in a day, and the two largest venues carried more than half of it. This is not a thin-order-book pop that fades the moment someone pulls a wall.
OI Jumps 28% to $112M: Fresh Money, Not Just Shorts
Open interest across venues rose 27.9% to $112.2M in the same window. Binance added 27.9%, OKX 30.2% and Bybit 26.2%, so the build is broad rather than one venue doing all the work. When price and open interest rise together, new longs are opening positions instead of a pure squeeze of existing shorts. That distinction matters because a rally built on rising OI tends to hold up longer than one running on flat or falling OI. The 4-hour slice still shows modest net adds, which suggests the flow was not a single spike that already reversed.
Shorts Paid 80% of $662K in Liquidations
Liquidations totaled $662K over 24 hours, and shorts absorbed 80% of the damage at $533K. The forced buying from those closed positions fed into the move higher at several points during the session. Even so, $662K is small against $112M of open interest, so the squeeze contributed to the tape but did not drive the whole rally. If short covering had been the main engine, open interest would likely have shrunk as positions closed; the opposite happened.
Funding Flat at 0.01%: No Overheating Yet
Funding rates sit at 0.01% on Binance, OKX, Bybit and Gate, with an open-interest-weighted average barely above zero. A 16% rally with this little funding heat means leverage has not gone one-sided, which is a healthier setup than a move running on 0.1% funding and a crowded long book. The main risk from here is late longs chasing in if the price extends toward $0.40 and funding starts to turn positive across venues. Traders should watch the funding print at the next settlement and whether OI keeps climbing with price; if both push higher together, the move is still fresh, but if funding flips strongly positive, the setup turns crowded and pullbacks get sharper.
Bottom line: the rally has volume, rising open interest and calm funding. The squeeze narrative explains part of it, but fresh long positioning is doing the heavier lifting. The data points to a move that still has room, with the caveat that a funding spike would change the picture quickly.
