LDO Open Interest Climbs 5.1% While $0.4427 Splits Flows

Lido DAO is trading at $0.4427 while total open interest has expanded 5.1% in 24 hours to $81.97M. That combination points to fresh derivatives exposure entering as price advances 2.5%, but the structure is not uniformly bullish: account positioning leans long, active taker flow leans short, and venue-level funding is uneven.

A recent market report described stronger taker buying alongside falling open interest as LDO stalled near resistance, but the latest snapshot shows the opposite OI direction: open interest is up 1.4% over the latest hour and 5.1% over 24 hours. The key question is whether the increase represents durable conviction or crowded positioning vulnerable to a reversal.

OI is concentrated but still broad

Bybit carries the largest reported share at 19.8%, with $16.16M in OI and a 4.0% daily increase. Binance is close behind at 19.5% and $15.92M, also up 5.1%. Gate contributes 14.3%, or $11.69M, after a more modest 1.9% rise. OKX is smaller at 5.0% and $4.05M, yet its daily OI increase is stronger at 6.7%.

The four venues therefore show a constructive daily build, but their short-term behavior is not synchronized. Bybit added 2.3% over the latest four hours, Gate added 2.1%, and Binance added 1.2%, while OKX slipped 0.3%. This split suggests that the aggregate expansion is being carried more by selected venues than by a uniform market-wide rush.

Funding exposes a sharp venue divide

Current funding rates reinforce that fragmentation. Binance, Bybit and OKX each show 0.0% after one-decimal rounding, while Gate is also 0.0% and Bitget is 0.0%. At the negative end, Coinbase and CoinEx both print -0.1%, and KuCoin is -0.0%. Other venues remain modestly positive, including Cryptocom at 0.0% and Paradex at 0.0%.

The headline signal is not simply positive or negative funding; it is the dispersion between venues. A trader paying a positive rate on one exchange can face a materially different carry profile elsewhere, which makes the OI increase harder to classify as a single-sided consensus trade. The ticker's average funding is also slightly negative, consistent with some short pressure despite the overall rise in contracts.

Positioning and liquidations disagree

Aggregate account positioning shows 59.9% long, yet the taker long share is only 46.2%. That is a clear divergence between held account exposure and more immediate aggressive execution: accounts are net long by share, while takers are selling more actively than buying. On Binance specifically, accounts are 48.6% long versus 51.4% short, adding another warning that the broader long reading is not evenly distributed.

Liquidation data is relatively contained at $98.9K over 24 hours, with $63.9K from longs and $35.0K from shorts. The 12-hour window is more balanced, showing $25.1K in long liquidations against $34.9K in shorts, while the latest hour records only $5.1K in short liquidations and no long liquidations. This sequence does not yet show a decisive squeeze; it shows modest two-way stress with slightly heavier long-side damage over the full day.

Verdict: The current structure is cautiously constructive above $0.4427, provided OI holds near $81.97M and the recent increase continues without a sharp reversal in venue participation. The bullish reading is invalidated if LDO loses $0.4427 while OI falls below $81.97M, especially if taker positioning remains below 46.2% long and long liquidations accelerate beyond the current $63.9K 24-hour level.
