LTC +2.4% to $49.8: Binance OI +4.6%, MEXC Cuts 12.4%

LTC Holds Ground as the Tape Turns Red
LTC is trading at $49.80 with a 24-hour gain of 2.4%, a rare green print on a morning when BTC dropped to $76.5K, ETH slipped under $2,420 and SOL fell back to $100. The move stands out less for size than for direction: while most majors gave back early-week gains, Litecoin built a tight range between $48.25 and $50.27 over the last day and closed in on its session high instead of fading it.
Open Interest Creeps Up While Longs Stay Quiet
Total open interest across LTC perps sits at $274M, up 1.2% in 24 hours. The interesting part is where the growth landed. Binance added 4.6% to $60.2M and remains the largest single venue with a 22% share, while Bybit and Bitget posted smaller increases to $56.2M and $23.8M. MEXC went the other way, cutting 12.4% to $25.6M, a divergence that started in the previous session and has not reversed. Hyperliquid added 4.3% to $16.9M, so the build is spread across venues rather than concentrated in one book.
Funding Sits Near Zero: No Leverage Fever
Funding rates on LTC are almost flat: Binance 0.01%, OKX 0.007%, Bybit and Gate both 0.01% on their standard 8-hour windows. That matters because a 2.4% price move on flat funding looks like spot accumulation rather than a levered squeeze. There is no crowded short side paying up and no long side stacking leverage, which makes the move look more durable than the meme-coin spikes that have dominated this week's alt action.
MEXC's Retreat Stands Out
The one clear sign of caution sits on MEXC, which trimmed LTC positions by 12.4% even as the coin rose. That kind of split usually appears when a venue's book was built by momentum traders who are not comfortable holding through a broad market dip. It also caps the reliability of the rally: if more venues follow MEXC's lead, the open interest build at Binance and Bybit loses its confirmation signal.
What to Watch
Litecoin is absent from the top liquidation coins right now, with BTC and ETH absorbing most of the $296M in 24-hour liquidations. The key level is the $50.27 high from the past 24 hours; a close above it with OI still rising would confirm that the marginal buyer is real. On the downside, $48.25 is the first support, and the 4-hour OI changes at Binance (+1.4%) and MEXC (-0.4%) are worth watching for the next directional clue.
