Starknet: $208.1M OI Faces a 5.6% Retreat as STRK Tests Breakout

Starknet is trading at $0.10455, down 4.3%, while its aggregate open interest stands at $208.1M after falling 5.6% over 24 hours. That is the key breakout warning: price is still attracting attention, but leverage has been reduced rather than rebuilt. Recent coverage has highlighted renewed market interest in Starknet and layer-2 assets, yet the derivatives tape does not confirm a clean continuation move.
OI concentration is losing momentum
Binance holds the largest recorded share at $46.2M, or 22.2%, after a 6.3% daily decline and a 1.7% fall over the latest 4-hour window. Bybit carries $39.9M, or 19.2%, with open interest down 6.2% over 24 hours but up 1.8% over 4 hours. OKX is smaller at $17.7M, or 8.5%, and shows the sharpest contraction among the leading venues: down 14.8% daily and 3.5% over 4 hours.
The split matters. Bybit is adding near-term exposure while Binance and OKX continue to shed it, leaving no broad-based expansion behind the price action. Bitget adds another drag, with $8.4M of open interest, a 4.0% share, and a 16.8% daily decline. The combined snapshot points to repositioning rather than a synchronized breakout build.
Funding is positive, but not uniformly crowded
The ticker’s 8-hour average funding rate is 0.0167%, above the broadly clustered 0.005% readings on Binance, Bybit, Bitget, Gate, Aster and several other venues. That average is lifted by Coinbase at 0.0705%, CoinEx at 0.152258% and Kraken at 0.021034%. Crypto.com is the outlier on the other side at -0.043909%, while dYdX is 0.021455% and Hyperliquid is 0.007001%.
This is a constructive but uneven signal. Positive funding on the largest venues suggests longs are paying to hold exposure, yet the most expensive rates are not concentrated where the largest open-interest balances sit. If price fails to advance, that carry cost can pressure late longs without requiring a full market-wide unwind.
Liquidations and positioning disagree
The liquidation structure changed across the observation windows. In the latest hour, short liquidations reached $281K versus $117K for longs, a squeeze-like result despite the price decline. Over 4 hours, however, long liquidations led at $816K against $514K for shorts. Across 24 hours, the balance flipped again: shorts lost $7.3M and longs lost $5.8M, for a total of $13.1M.
Positioning adds another layer. Only 43.5% of accounts are long, while active takers are 61.3% long. Binance shows 41.8% long accounts but 63.3% long takers; Gate is even more divided, with 39.0% long accounts and 73.8% long takers. The account-versus-taker gap implies aggressive buyers are leaning into the move while the wider user base remains positioned defensively. That can fuel a rebound, but it is not the same as durable spot-led accumulation.
Verdict: STRK’s breakout case remains unconfirmed while price sits at $0.10455 and aggregate OI is $208.1M. The first overhead stress zone is the $0.11169 long-liquidation level, followed by $0.11759 and the $0.12679 short-liquidation level. A bullish reversal would need price to reclaim $0.11759 while OI expands back above $208.1M; that combination would invalidate the current fade-risk view. Until then, the stronger reading is a leverage-reset rally with uneven venue participation, not a confirmed breakout.
