Starknet OI Holds $206.7M as Binance Leads With 22.3% Share

Starknet derivatives are showing a sharp positioning split: open interest stands at $206.7M, down 4.7% over 24 hours but up 3.5% over the last hour, while the token trades at $0.10325. That combination points to a fresh short-term build rather than a clean, broad-based expansion of risk. Recent coverage has highlighted renewed interest in Starknet amid a wider rally in selected crypto assets, but the derivatives tape is more divided than the headlines suggest.

OI concentration still favors the largest venues

The first signal is concentration. Binance holds $46.1M, or 22.3% of tracked Starknet open interest, followed by Bybit at $39.2M and 19.0%. OKX contributes $18.1M and 8.8%, while Bitget accounts for $8.4M and 4.1%. These four venues represent the main liquidity base, yet every one of them recorded a 24-hour OI decline: Binance fell 5.3%, Bybit dropped 6.8%, OKX declined 10.5%, and Bitget contracted 13.7%.

The short-term exception is the one-hour reading. Aggregate OI is rising even as the daily balance remains negative, which can mean traders are reopening exposure after an unwind. However, the venue-level changes do not yet confirm a synchronized surge. Gate added 0.9% over 24 hours but remains small at 2.0% share, while Aster expanded 15.4% from a base of only $0.4M and 0.2% share. For now, the increase looks tactical and concentrated rather than a durable institutional rotation.

Funding stays positive, but the spread is wide

The funding rate structure is broadly positive across the core venues. Binance, Bybit, Bitget and Gate each show 0.005%, while Hyperliquid is at 0.006082% and Backpack at 0.016566%. This says longs are paying to maintain exposure, but the cost is not uniform across venues.

The largest positive readings sit away from the main OI centers. Coinbase is at 0.0705%, CoinEx at 0.152258%, and dYdX at 0.047313%. Crypto.com is the outlier on the negative side at -0.043909%, indicating that local positioning there is different from the broader market. The funding pattern therefore supports a mild long premium, not an extreme crowded-long condition. A sustained OI rebound would be more convincing if it came with rising funding at Binance and Bybit rather than isolated spikes on smaller books.

Liquidations favor shorts while accounts stay defensive

Liquidation data shows that the recent move has punished both sides, but the 24-hour balance favors shorts. Total liquidations reached $12.8M, including $7.1M of shorts and $5.7M of longs. The shorter windows are more revealing: in one hour, shorts lost $96.0K versus $21.3K for longs, while the four-hour window recorded $288.5K of short liquidations against $875.5K of long liquidations. The sequence suggests an earlier long flush followed by a more recent upside squeeze.

Positioning confirms the tension. The aggregate account split is 42.7% long and 57.3% short, while taker flow is 59.3% long and 40.7% short. Binance accounts are 40.4% long and 59.6% short, and OKX accounts are 39.0% long against 61.0% short. Yet Binance takers are 57.3% long, and Gate takers are 73.8% long. Passive accounts remain defensive while aggressive orders lean into buying, a classic divergence that can support a squeeze but can also fade quickly if spot demand fails.

Verdict: STRK has a squeeze setup, but not yet a confirmed OI-led trend. The key reference is $0.10341 near the latest long-liquidation level; holding it while OI returns above $207.3M would strengthen the rebound case, with $0.11169 and $0.11449701 as the next liquidation-derived upside checkpoints. A break below $0.10341 while OI stays under $206.7M would invalidate the squeeze view and favor continued deleveraging.
